My Top 5 Retro TV Shows

I’d love to know what your favourite TV Shows were when you were growing up!

Below are my Top 5 – What are yours?

1. The Love Boat:

I have a confession to make. I own the first 2 seasons of The Love Boat on DVD. Set on a cruise ship The Love Boat is a perfect combination of drama, romance, comedy and feel good. The crew are loveable and each episode would have a big name guest appearance from that era. I never get sick of belting out that theme song! This is seriously my most favourite show ever!

2. Bewitched:

I watched this show every day after school growing up so it brings back fond memories. I even named my cat after the little girl in the show, Tabitha! For those of you not familiar, The story revolves around a suburban housewife called Samantha and her family in the 1960’s/70’s. Samantha is a witch and her husband doesn’t know. Samantha’s mother and daughter also have magic powers. It’s really is a blast from the past and fun for everyone to watch.

The Wonder Years:

The wonder years is the reflections a normal boy growing up in the 1960’s, Kevin, from the ages of 12-17 years of age. It’s about life with his family, his friends and his love for Winnie. I have a real soft spot for this show and I think that everyone can relate to the themes of growing up.

Get Smart:

Ok – So this is another one another that I used to watch after school as a kid. Get Smart is about a secret agent, Maxwell Smart and his beautiful sidekick, secret agent 99. He always manages to save the day despite being clumsy. Set in the 60’s – full of retro futuristic gadgets like the famous shoe phone.

Full House:

What can I say? John Stamos gets better with age. He just might have been one of my first crushes. I used to beg to watch this show back in the day! This story revolves around a widowed father who is bringing up his daughters with the help of his best friend and brother in law. This is the late 80’s early 90’s at its best!

  1. I loved Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie – I’m still envious of their powers when someone cuts me off on the road – oh to be able to twitch my nose 🙂 This is a fun post – gave hubby and me a great trip down memory lane.

    • Aaaaw Valerie! These shows are great for a trip down memory lane. I just love everything about them- The fashion, all the little details like the decor and the actors & actresses! They were all so gorgeous but in a natural way! I have to say- For me it was a toss up between I dream of jeanie and bewitched !

  2. There are so many great ones! I love the Brady Bunch but I also loved Mr Ed. I used to sneak downstairs and watch Mr Ed with the TV turned down really low before everyone got up, as we had no TV before school rule 😦

  3. Ooh, I have so many! Most of them would be everyone else’s faves too, but I’m wondering if anyone can remember a show call “Small Wonder”?? It was about a little girl who was a robot. I loved it! I also used to love “Perfect Strangers” when I was quite young.
